Why am I getting this email?
At one point in your life, you subscribed to Spark SC emails! With this newsletter, we’re here to show you that with a single idea, anyone can become an entrepreneur.
Over the next month, we’ll be breaking down the process of ideation to implementation. In today’s issue, we’ll ask ourselves what does entrepreneurship even mean?
To answer this question, Anoushka (a Sparklet1) will examine the entrepreneurial spirit at USC. This issue will also explore how Spark SC is testing the conventions of entrepreneurship.
Enjoy the issue below,
What does entrepreneurship mean?
And who should seek that title? And why does this discussion even matter?
Hello Hello! 👋🏽
I’m Anoushka2 and I’ve been wondering about these questions a lot lately. As an IR major, who is not quite a coder, or a designer, or an engineer, I’ve wondered where exactly my ideas and strengths can contribute to the world.
These initial thoughts led to some reading, thinking, and ultimately, writing. I took to some blank [online] paper to explore alternative definitions and examples of entrepreneurship apart from what is traditionally thought of. My post takes a look at the entrepreneurial spirit from 19th century France all the way to present day at USC to help give readers some perspective.
If you’re curious about:
How Spark SC (and, yes, the Napoleon Bonaparte) changed my perspective on what entrepreneurship was and who it involved
Examples of USC students who have entrepreneurial vision, but would have never thought of themselves as “entrepreneurs”
Why you should care whether you believe you have the potential to be an entrepreneur — and, most importantly, how you can actually become one
then, take a look at this blog post on our website!
Now, where does Spark SC come in?
At Spark, we strongly believe that anyone with an idea should have the support and resources to make that idea into a reality. And so, all our initiatives, over the years, have reflected this belief of ours.
But, in the process of creating our various initiatives, we ourselves have practiced the process of putting ideas into action. Check out this video by Cristina3 (another Sparklet!) to learn more about this process:
How can I get involved with Spark SC?

Hey everyone!
Did you know that USC has a huge community of entrepreneurs, creatives, baristas, and ranch dressing experts? Yes, you heard me right, ranch experts. On April 20th at the University Village Great Lawn, from 11-2 PM, Spark SC is hosting the first ever Trojan Market Place, a market where we give students a chance to shop and support their fellow student-run small businesses! Come through, sip on some coffee, try on hand-made earrings, taste test world famous ranch, personalize your sneakers, and just vibe. With over 40 different student businesses, there is definitely something for everyone!
